Welcome to Flammang Racing Online!
As most of you know the Young and up coming Driver Josh Wilson Piloted the Flammang Racing Machine for me while I decided to take a year off from driving. I couldn’t have made a Better choice for someone to fill the seat. This young Man not only performed as a Champion on the track but dedicated what ever time it took in the shop to prep the car from week to week. There were times during the season when things weren’t going very well no matter how hard we tried! Josh never gave up and as a Team we worked hard to make the car as competitive as possible. Josh’s performance on the track was 2nd to none. Even though the car was not always up to par Josh was able to wheel the car to an average finish of a top 10. Don’t get me wrong there were tracks that we performed very well at and on those nights Josh Shined as the Great driver that he is! Some times as most of you know it not only takes a Great combination of crew and Driver but there is this thing call "LUCK". This year I think Lady Luck left town for most of the summer. Just to fill you in on how part of the season went with out the Lady in town we spent an over abundance of time in the shop this summer pulling motors and broken transmissions in and out of the car. Now don’t get me wrong its not like we have a back room full of spare motors to pass around but fortunately we did have enough pieces to keep the car coming back each week. The problem is when you have to start using back up parts your performance falls off. For ex sample, Our first Ephrata race we had to put my old Bomber motor in the car(3year old 355cu motor) which actually turned out to be a plus at this track as we all know has very little grip. Not only was the motor an advantage but we had great feed back from Josh on what it was going to take to get the car set up and save the tires for the latter part of the main. We finished 3rd that night while breathing down the tail pipes of the 1st &2nd place finishers. So you see it isn’t always Horse Power that wins races or have a top five finish with the Outlaws. It takes determination on behave of the crew and driver, and trust me Josh drove the wheels off at each and every race; the guy has unbelievable Talent & Determination! On behave of Flammang Racing (Gary&Char), I would like to Thank Josh for coming on board for the 2008 season. Not only was it Great having such a Talent young driver to support our goals of winning on the track, it was also Great knowing that after the Checkered flag had fallen, We had not only built a Great Racing Team but also a Great Friendship over the years! Thanks for a 4th Place finish in the series this year; you are a Champion in Our books. Not only was it nice having a well accepted driver to our team but it was also great having the extra help of Matt and Jeff to the crew this year. Matt & Jeff are the crew members from The Wilson Racing team who help Prep the #51 car. If you ever want to take a look at an outlaw car with outstanding workmanship, take a look at their car. Their car is a work of art and dedication. The car not only looks great but performs like a Championship Winner. If it wasn’t for the fact that the Wilson Team due to funds and wanting some time off this season would of had their car running a full season this year you may of had a different Champion. This Team is capable of winning Races and Championships! Char & I would like to Thank Matt and Jeff for their support in helping out on the 91 car this year. Not only was it nice having the extra help but their company is always welcome in our Family! It seems like when you get to the bottom of the page their is always someone you should of mentioned at the top of the page. But my thinking is you always save the best for the last few laps! If you haven’t figured it out I’m talking about the person who not only supports me in my Crazy racing adventures but helps keep me inline on a daily basis. This Lady probably worked harder than any of us this year making sure our motor home was always prep for the weekend of racing. She not only stocked it with clean clothing, food, drinks, and late afternoon lunches for the crew but even made sure our driver had a clean driving suit every week. She was also in the shop helping bleed the brakes late at night, pushing the starter button for testing and even giving great advice from time to time. It’s amazing how a person in the shadows of the team can have such an impact on how your weekend can turn out. I remember this summer on the way to one of the SSS races the trailer lost a wheel bearing just south of Tacoma and we pulled off the freeway for repairs. Destroying the hub on the trailer I had no choice but to unhook the trailer and go into Tacoma for parts. We weren’t comfortable leaving the car and trailer unsecured but I was less comfortable asking Char to stay alone in a not so good part of town. Before I could say any thing Char insisted on staying with the car. When I returned I found her sitting in her track chair next to the trailer working on one of her famous word search puzzles with a smile on her face indicating every thing had gone well. She also informed me that the Auto Zone manager had come over to check on her a couple of times knowing she was standing guard. So you see it takes a tremendous amount of dedication not only from the driver and crew but also the People from behind the scenes to make this all possible. Char’s contribution & dedication to making this season happen is 2nd to none. I couldn’t ask for a better Team Mate (My Wife Char), friend or crew member to be by my side! Flammang Racing salutes Char for Her outstanding Performance and dedication to our success in 2008! One other person I would like to recognize for her warm and loving support this year is My Lovely daughter Kerri. In her busy schedule of raising a family, working long hours and full filling all her other obligations this summer she was able to be there at the races to support not only the team but Crazy dad who seems to think racing should go on for ever, LOL! Kerri has brought a very bright spirit to our team with her little pranks and comforting moments after a not so good night. She is not only a Great person but a lot of fun to have around. I’m not sure but I might have even heard her say some thing about I had made a Good choice on a driver to replace me for this year, hmmm? Thanks Kerri for being there to share the good times and the bad! Some of the other People who have made this season possible are Bobby Carney. Thanks for your support this year, your still the Web Master Guru, and the extra fuel from your kindness was very helpful. Special thanks to Lex Johnson of Concept Racing in Monroe who help prepare the 91 car over the winter months; you’re a stand up kind of Guy! Thanks to Les Schwab of Everett. Thanks to Jeff Bremner for supporting us with some Great looking Chrome wheels for the car this year, couldn`t have done it with out you! I would also like to Thank Dave Peyton owner and Operator of Performance Machine in Everett, Way. Dave was Very Helpful in helping us make it to the last few races. Setting a few jobs off to the side to helps us out at the last moment, proves He is and outstanding kind of Guy and a Great machinist. If you want it done right the first time go see Dave! The NW Outlaw Series has been a great place to race over the last few years. The Outlaws have produced some of the best racing in the NW and have I have met some of the greatest people around. Thanks for inviting our team into your group over the last few years. It is undecided where Flammang racing will be racing next year but if it’s not with the Outlaws I will always support you and remember the Great times we had together. Thanks to MY Wonderful Family, Friends, Crew and Fans for riding along this year on our way to the checkered Flag! Keep The Pedal Down & The Wheel Turned Left! Gary Flammang #91(FlammangRacing.com) Everett WA. Join our message board and keep track of Team Flammang and other Outlaws during the off season. See you next year! |
